Utah Surgical Arts Maintains Only AAAHC-Accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Practice in Utah
Provo, Utah (July 8, 2014) – Utah Surgical Arts, the only oral and maxillofacial surgery practice in the state of Utah that maintains a surgical center with a Certificate of Accreditation from the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), announced today that they have been re-accredited by the organization. Accreditation distinguishes this surgical center from other outpatient facilities by providing the highest quality of care to its patients as determined by an independent, external process of evaluation.
Status as an accredited organization means that Utah Surgical Arts has met nationally recognized standards for the delivery of quality health care, as set by the AAAHC. While not all ambulatory health care organizations undergo the rigorous on-site survey process required to achieve accreditation, the team at Utah Surgical Arts opted to seek accreditation to demonstrate to patients their level of commitment and service.
“We truly value each and every patient that comes into our practice, and it was important for us to maintain this level of excellence within our community,” said Michael D. Harris, MD, DDS, a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon at Utah Surgical Arts. “When our patients see that our facility and procedures have been carefully evaluated and accredited by an independent, not-for-profit organization, it shows them we strive for the highest level of care possible.”
As the only AAAHC-accredited oral and maxillofacial surgery practice in the state, Utah Surgical Arts underwent an extensive assessment and on-site survey by AAAHC expert surveyors who are actively involved in ambulatory health care. The renewal of the accreditation further solidifies that the entire administrative and surgical team is continuously dedicated to improving its care and services for patients.
“Going through the initial accreditation process challenged us to enhance our services by compelling us to closely examine our practices,” said Dr. Harris. “The renewal process allowed us to reevaluate what was working and what was not working so we could become even better as a team and a community resource.”
Founded in 1979, AAAHC is the leader in ambulatory health care, and has accredited more than 5,000 organizations nationwide, including ambulatory surgery centers, office-based surgery centers, endoscopy centers, student health centers, military health care clinics, and large medical and dental practices. AAAHC advocates high-quality health care through the development of nationally recognized standards, and through its survey and accreditation programs. AAAHC accreditation is recognized as a symbol of quality by third-party payers, medical organizations, liability insurance companies, state and federal agencies, and the public.
